De Small Business Server werd ontworpen voor een klein aantal gebruikers (limiet op 25 gebruikers). Security en access controle is beperkt tot Windows Active Directory. Dit is het standaard Windows Security system die de beheerders in staat stelt om het beleid (rechten en instellingen) in het Windows netwerk van een volledig bedrijf te beheren. Geen ondersteuning voor anonieme gebruikers (typische externe gebruikers). Geen ondersteuning voor gedeelde servers voor load-balancing of fail-over doeleinden.
The Small Business Server is designed for a small amount of users (limited to 25 users). Security and access control is limited to Microsoft Active Directory. This is the standaard Windows Security system that allow system administrators to manage access in the Windows network of the company. No support for anonymous users (typically external users). No support for shared servers for load-balancing or fail-over purposes.
