The base model for QlikView is the local client. In this situation, the QlikView Windows Client software is installed locally and documents are opened locally (or via the network).

In a situation of multiple users (more than 2-4)  it is advisable to move towards a client-server solution. This allows for one central point were informations is stored and managed (refresh etc). Topics such as security can only be managed properly in a client-server architecture.
